9th Caulfield Scouts group is run by members of our community.  We welcome any new members to join our scouting group and committee.

Our committee meets monthly and includes community members, scout leaders and parents. All welcome to join.

When was 9th Caulfield formed?

The Troop was the first to be formed and in 1951, as a hall had not been secured, early on it met in the Smart's garage and at Kangaroo Park. Then after a little while, the meetings took place at the old Lauriston Tennis Club.

As the Troop was growing at a rapid rate and soon needed a larger place, so they began meeting at the Murrumbeena Baptist Church Hall. The Pack met in St.Patrick's School Hall and some meetings were held in the Sealy's home.

More History & Our Scout Hall

Scouting was booming after the 2nd World War and no doubt, due to the 'Baby Boom', the troops in nearby areas were soon overflowing.

Families were moving in to Murrumbeena and there was a need for a Scout Troop in the area.

Before long, the Scout Group had acquired some railway land by long-term lease in the disused Linear Railway Reserve, near the Hughesdale Railway Station.

By this time, the group had a growing Scout Troop and a Cub Pack that needed a hall were they could meet well away from the elements of nature.

Many of the kid's parents and the local community joined forces to enable a scout hall to be built and in 1961,  9th Caulfield (Murrumbeena) Scout Group had a place that they would be proud of and could call their own.

Jamborees and Camps...

Over the years many of our scouts attended the various Australian Jamborees, which are held every three years to give every scout at least one opportunity to attend.
